Tipsy in Singapore with wine and vodka

Yesterday was my first time to be tipsy here in Singapore and it was amazingly weird. We bought a bottle of wine and two bottles of vodka. All for what ? hehehehe The nostalgia of being a bit tipsy I guess.

When we finished the wine, we felt that we need more so I went to the fridge where I hid my two mini bottles of sauvignon and chardonnay. That was it, things got unruly and found ourselves dancing. I sometimes would laugh out loud and then just sit on the couch or the floor while my housemates continued dancing and following some choreography in youtube. We would pause a bit for a kampai and then dance again. We made sure everything were closed so we won't be receiving any complaints from our neighbors. When another bottle was dried up, our housemate who is on vacation from Cebu came and she was a bit shocked of she has witnessed. Well she couldn't have complained much as we gave her a group hug and then we offered a shot glass to her.

We wrap things up when it was like around 1AM and mind you guys we still have work some hours later. It ended up nice and smooth. I guess everyone had a nice sleep.

Grouper Fish and Prawn Sinigang, Bow!

Mamul and I went to Chinatown to check some travel packages. It was fun talking to travel agents and checking out the best deals for our travel plan. The travel agencies were mushrooming at the People's park center and complex. Even if the place was packed with travel agencies, there was no shadow of the Chan Brothers. It was a bit hopeless when we could not find any internet cafe, just to check the Chan Brothers Travel Agency for their vacation deals. When we asked Olga about it, her phone could actually go online so we were able to at least check for the land line of the agency. When Mamul got her mobile rang for a talk with one of the agents at Chan, it was a doom for that day as there was nobody on the end - only a voice operator trying to tell us of their office hours.

So we decided to go to Vivo City to check our other friends - Agnes, Olga and Christian. We went their to check other things. I was again window shopping at Vivo and could not decide what to buy. I have been actually planning to get a new phone. I feel that I needed to change my sickly and a bit dilapidated Sony Ericsson K700i which has been with me for the past 4 years. I bought a very simple Samsung phone but I can't seem to enjoy it so much. Mamul by the way went to Keppel to buy her diving gears. We were planning to see each other at Vivo, specifically at Food Republic for dinner. Olga was still checking out something and Agnes together with Christian, also were going in and about the mall checking for great value electronics. I was on the other hand, checking some clothes which by the way I don't need. I should be checking phones already, so I went up the next floor and check Sony Ericsson shop, Nokia and Samsung. I am still a Sony Ericsson fan and even if I am so attracted to the Experia, I still won't afford to buy it because it's too pricy and my budget for travel would shrink, which I don't want to do. So checked Olga where are they and so I went to Best Electronic store. Olga was with Agnes and Christian already. I informed Mamul that I will wait for her for dinner and that we will see her at Best also. We were checking some phones and laptops, and they were really good gadgets. Crazily, since the Mac had this internet access, I check with the Chan Brothers site when Mamul arrived - and they had the best deal yet so far. Well, I kept on looking at the Experia and Mamul was teasing me already. But frankly, I just can't buy it mainly because of the reasons I had mentioned above.

Anyway, our stomach were screaming of hunger already so we decided to dine at Food Republic. I usually go for the Western Food stall but then this time I opted to checkout this Chinese stall. Their food looked delicious so I ordered a meal from them. My friends decided to get some fried noodles with prawns which I was able to taste and they were delicious too.

After that dinner, we decided to cook sinigang. Agnes had this two packs of Sinigang mix sa gabi(taro) and sili (pepper). Sinigang is actually a Filipino food that's sour and sometimes spicy, which has also tamarind on it and some vegetables. It was actually 10PM and we decided to sleep at Mamul's den and then cook and eat sinigang the next day. Mamul was planning to go to the market to buy the ingredients.

At Mamul's den, we had this simple chit chat and sharing of some information which are confidential I supposed. Anyway, we viewed some funny videos online like this little girl wanting to get the rent. See it here:

I have had a good laugh of this video a long time ago but Mamul had not seen this one so we shared it to her. We also checked bryanboy's interview of the average joes about fashion.

Anyway, we ended the night talking about Yoga. Since Mamul had this Yoga book, and Agnes just started her Fitness First membership, and had some muscle pains, we started doing some yoga poses. Basically, I read the instructions on the book and showed them the poses which by the way was the same as what I was doing when I had my Yoga class last week. Somehow were having fun at doing some weird positions but then it was a good stretching of the back and the legs. We ended up doing the final relaxing posture which was called the dead's lie where you just rest your body on the mat or floor placing your hands on the side and closing your eyes. What a good way to end the day and sleep, zzzzzzzzz.

The next day, when I woke up, I was alone in the room. I found Olga on the sala with her eyes glued on TV. Olga told me that Mamul together with Agnes went to the market to buy the ingredients for our Sinigang recipe. I washed my face in the bathroom to have that refreshing feeling.

After 10 minutes or more, the two girls arrived with all the purchased ingredients. Agnes asked me if we needed a taro and I said yes but then when Mamul asked me of what needs to be prepared, I forgot to tell her that we need gabi. We did not even have string beans because I forgot to tell her about it as well. Anyway, I found out that there was no green pepper so after Agnes and I did the slicing of the vegetables, and washing the prawns and grouper, I went out of the condo to buy string beans and pepper. It was a quick buy at this mini grocery near the LRT station, so I arrived really fast. Maybe because it's my walking that was really brisk.

I washed the string beans and the green pepper. Prepared the water to be boiled in this big covered wok. I was looking for the sinigang mix but it was no where to be found. We tried to check things and we thought that Mamul kept it in her bag. By the way Mamul left to D. Ghaut, because her uncle came to Singapore and she has to meet him for a tour in Singapore on that same afternoon. Anyway, we were trying to reach Mamul because we can't find the mix. We were also asking if we can use the rice stocked in one of the cabinets in the kitchen. The sinigang mix will actually make or break the food that we were preparing. But I realized that Mamul was bringing with her a plastic bag where she had her diving mask so I thought she could gave placed it there also. Good thing it was there because we would have ended preparing a totally different recipe which will be disaster I guess.

The cooking continued for the next 15 - 20 minutes and I had to eat a slice of bread because I'm a bit hungry already. Well, the two girls were checking some ASAP videos online. ASAP by the way is a variety show of the biggest T.V. network in the Philippines. Movie artists would be there to show their talents be it singing or dancing, or sometimes promoting their concerts and television series.

When the food was ready, I called the girls that it's about time to eat and eventually judge the food we prepared. And the verdict was it's a success. The food tasted really good and it's something you'd drool over. LOLZ. Our sinigang escapade in Punggol went successful. Too bad Mamul was not there, but, we left her with Sinigang in the wok. Hope it's still good to eat.

It's getting late so I needed to sleep already, so bye for now. Ciao!

Midnight Laundry

Yesterday was cruel. I had to stay late for my laundry.

I segregated the coloured from the white clothes I have and washed the coloured ones first. I took me over an hour of waiting for the first batch to finish. I had to hang them for drying as we obviously don't have a dryer. It was getting 1AM at that time.

After that, it was time for the next batch the white clothes. I had to wait for another hour for it to finish. It was 2AM and while waiting for everything to finish, I was surfing the net and at the same time reading some blogs. It's a fun thing reading peoples' blogs and knowing the person who are not even part of any history. It's kind of awesome knowing and learning from their sojourns.

I woke up at around 6AM and then I realized that I left my laundry in the unit's washing machine. It was cruel. I didn't noticed that I slept with my laptop on and was sitting in my bed and with myself pushed back on the wall in one position which gave me a back ache. I had to rise from my bed and walk very sluggishly to the washing machine. I had to hang them as well and it was harsh because I feel that I was half asleep while doing it. I had my alarm set to 7AM because of the Gemalto Orientation Seminar. It took me 10-15 minutes hanging them. I had to hurry to my bed and slept again.

I woke up around 7:15AM and still very sleepy.

Reason for not being able to wash my clothes early because, there was a very small space to hang them. Even if there was nobody using the washing machine, I can 't hang them to dry, so there you go, I had to wait until some of my housemates have dried their clothes. There are some space available outside but I don't want to risk drying them there because we are in the 20th floor and it might be blown by the gust.

XXX - etel in Singapore and I

Lols! Sounds like a porn movie that is, yeah ? Well here it goes....

My etel mates before had this plan of just meeting up. At long last, our meet up went successful. Mayang and I have been planning to meet somewhere in SG and this was it. And there's more, Lana and Ferdz who are already working here in SG were also present. These three people were officemates in Cebu, Philippines. We were working in Etelecare Global Solutions then. We got tired of the routines at work and wanted to move on so parted ways and here we are, in Singapore. What a small world really.

We actually just had a simple dinner at Food Republic and our plan was to meet there at around 7PM. FR is a food court actually where you can eat decent food at a price that's two to three times more expensive compared to a regular hawker.

The group had a mini bonding wherein we talked alot of updates which are basically, about people's lives. In short there was a mini-gossip session of the people from the X-company. It was fun to get in touch with people you have worked with and see them right now in different aura. You would love to appreciate how things have changed. Somehow it filled some gaps about your want of knowing of the what-has-happened after one has left.

After that simple dinner, we just went to the terrace and and just talk and talk. We did not even noticed that it was 11PM already. Vivo City is very accessible and some of my X's lived in Punggol and one somewhere in Red Line. Most of the time we're just laughing over nonsense stuff which made the atmosphere very relaxed and stress free.

It was getting late for most of them and I don't want to get a bus either because I would know how. In short we were most comfortable taking on a train ride. So we called it a night.

See you next time guys!

I am busy but not really.

I have been quite a busy bee for the past few days. This morning, I arrived in the office at around 9:59AM. I directly started what I have to do which was to install programs on the high tech cards that we have. The one we used in contactless transactions similar to that of the EZLink card here in Singapore. After trying things out and calling someone from the office who has an idea of how to do it, still there were failures in the installation. I was actually trying my best to find ways on getting the tasks done but there are so many things that I can't control. And instead of trying to bring the world upside down, I just relaxed ?

Well after lunch I was still trying out somethings. At around 2:30PM, I had nothing to do. In short, I am in severe stagnation. Most of the questions and clarifications that I have can only be answered by the people in France which for heaven's sake is in a different time zone. The thing is, I have been lectured by my manager about emails that it's the source of all evil or something. So I have learned. The France counterparts are usually starting to work at 5PM here in Singapore. So when I noticed that my contact is online already, I summarized what I had been doing and formulated questions and clarifications. After that, I tried calling my contact but I am always put into this answering machine - a leave a message automation. So all, I could do obviously is just leave a message. Since that contact appeared online, I also left a message there. Hopefully I will get answers the next morning.

Anyway, my team lead approached me and asked me some updates. I narrated to him all the the things that I have been doing. Then the million dollar question was popped, "What are you doing right now?". Then I replied, "nothing". Actually, I was just reading some Java stuff totally not related to the C++ and VB languages I am using in this project. He was not specific so that was my answer. I could have told him that I am reading this and that but totally unrelated to my current task. Well, I just needed a breather from a bit of pressure to have an output on this project. But let me continue. He then said that he needs to know if I am doing nothing because he will be assigning me other tasks from different projects. So I told him that if my contact from France won't reply this day, then I will have nothing to do as I am stuck. So I said that tomorrow it's okay to have a new set of tasks.

The long hours of waiting was like making me so damn weak. I wish time would go offshoot like a comet. I was so in a hurry that when the clock struck at exactly 6:55PM, I packed my stuff and went out of the office. I then went to Guess at Takashimaya to get my new pair of denim.

Biking at the East Coast Park

My friends and I agreed to go biking yesterday - Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009; and it's going to be our fifth attempt more or less, to get our legs kicking with these bicycles.

When I got up, I hurriedly check my phone as I had an appointment with my agent to view a flat at Holland Village but he cancelled the appointment. So, I decided to go to the gym. I had few hours to do some cardio and weights. After the gym, I got so tired but did not have much time to rest as Mamul was sending me some SMS about the activities for that afternoon. Mamul and Agnes together with Christian, actually went first somewhere (I forgot the name of the place LOLZ:P ) to check some electronics and then they sent messages that we would meet at Expo which was a station away of Tanah Merah. Anyway, I did not much have rest after the gym but I managed to watch Discovery discussing Taboo, which was pretty interesting. It was showing some food stuff and they were disgusting, which made it taboo. From the Cobra wine to actually drinking the cobra's blood, to eating insects like hoppers and crickets, to eating friend scorpions, then dog meat in Vietnam - where they sort of have a dog livestock, to puffer fish in Japan - a very deadly meal, a Russian Rollet kinda thing in dining. I was a little shocked on the dog meat thing and I hope I won't offend some culture about it by mentioning this one in my blog.

Anyway, Olga was already ready for the trip and I was hurrying myself from washing my face and then changing my clothes. You might be wondering if I took my bath already and the answer is yes, after the gym (hehehe). Olga and I went out of the flat at around 4PM and walked our way to the Buona Vista station. Tanah was really far. I was standing up until Commonwealth and got a seat at Outram. I told you I was a little tired so I managed to get a bumpy nap. We reached the interchange in about 45 minutes maybe and from a station away, we arrived to our destination which is at Expo. Olga and I went to this Nike Sale and the queue at the entrance was a mile long. When we got inside, it took us 15 minutes on the queue right after we could enter the actual rummage of Nike goodies. I got dizzy of which things to buy. I got a cap and a polo shirt and I was trying to fit some good looking shoes. They were actually all marked up and all of them were made from China. I got so tired and dizzy with all the people. I guess I am not so used to it - some people in different sizes and smell? Plus the fact that I was a little tired which I pretended I wasn't (hehehehe). I had my stuff ready and was about to pay and got discouraged by the huge queue again. I guess Singapore loves to queue things.

Anyway, I decided to go out of the premise instead and did not buy anything. I was so exhausted of the flock and the breeze outside which was telling us that it would rain was a refreshment that I have waited.

Olga got out of the building and had her jacket purchased at 20$ which was a really pretty bargain. Mamul suggested to let Olga try the new jacket and it was really cool. Mamul then had over the KFC meal Olga requested through me and I had a piece of fried chicken which added a boost in my waning energy level.

We then decided to go to our destination at Eunos. Did I mention I was so thirsty? Yes, I got a pack of orange juice from the ever reliable 7Eleven which is also ubiquitous here in Singapore.

We arrived at Eunos around 6PM and one of the member of the group had to discharge something (wahihihi). So while waiting near the exit of the station, we checked our route and then got some pamphlet of maps. I took one and I think Agnes got one too. After that, we checked this mobile phone center. I have my very old SEK700i and Agnes was surprised and same as I, finding out that our units were valued at just 25$. Though I have another phone which is low tech but it has served the main purpose of the phone which is for some SMS and calls.

Anyway it was time to proceed to our destination. We actually walked some few blocks going to bus stop # 3 and rode the Bus No. 55. It was getting dark already but the idea of being lost and finding our way was kind of exciting. Mamul actually told the bus driver to stopped the bus near East Coast - thanks to this kind fellow.

We arrived at this place and didn't really know exactly where. We then started to climb in this skywalk and then saw these two ladies in their jogging outfit. We thought of following them. We were then going to a hawker which was not East Coast and so we changed routes - this time not following the two ladies. There was this guy in his 40's and Mamul asked some directions and he was like pointing somewhere which was a little helpful actually. We then came into this corner after passing some HDBs and asked another man. This time he's pointing straight ahead and this time we're getting close but not lost. After some more minutes of walking we saw the light, the light from McDonalds and that was it. The East Coast park. We crossed the street using the underground tunnel. I call it a tunnel because it was such a big walk way and there were few people and the tunnel looked to WW2 to me - a remnant of the past perhaps. Then we arrived at the park itself at the other end of the tunnel and we hurried our pace going to this bike station. We got the bikes for 5$ a piece and a bottle of water. The attendant then attached the back lights in our bicycles and also the baskets. We then headed to this bicycle experience. There lots of people mostly at their 20's. The scenery was that exciting because it was dark and you would hear music along and the sound of the sea splashing in the shore. Anyway it was a great experience. Something that made me love biking. I was learning how to bike when I was in fourth grade and after a year stopped. Anyway it was fun biking with friends and just screaming and singing along. Wahahahha. Yeah I was able to do that because at that time it was like 8PM and there few people. We managed to actually reached the end of the other side of East Coast. Agnes had some issues with the bike so she had to stop from time to time but that did not stop us from enjoying the night.

We were to return the bikes by 9:45PM so we just had to return it by then, otherwise, we will need to return it the next day, at 8AM. So we need to hurry a bit our bike pedal. We managed to return the bikes on time.

I thought that we were hungry so we checked out some place to dine. While doing so, we check this inline skaters doing a show and then we followed this strip of merchants and I bought a fleece blanket at 7$. It was getting late for dinner so we need to get settled already. We were able to track the restos and were still undecided so we went on going back, rounding the food shoppe (Hehehe). At last, we found our haven at this Japanese and Korean food house. We got ourselves served and it was a great dinner. The food they served were simply delicious.

It was time for us to go home and it was like 11:30PM already. It was getting late and our feet were screaming to death :D

Punggol and China Town Part Two, Slingers versus Ginebra San Miguel and My Food Allergy

The title says it all. That's how I spent my weekend with friends and co-leagues.

Last Friday, dawn, I had a chat with Mamul and we decided to see a basketball match between Singapore Slingers and Ginebra Team from the Philippines. Good thing, I have an email from jobstreet.com and instead of paying 18 SG dollars, we had to pay 11 SG dollars for each ticket.

Last Friday, after work, Olga, Agnes and I went to Tiong Bahru to buy our tickets from the Sistic ticket outlet, but, it was close already so we just decided to buy the tickets the next day. We went to Kopitiam for dinner.

Saturday came and since I had to go to Fitness First on that day, it was Olga who went to IMM to buy the tickets. She paid the tickets for us but they weren't for free. Hehehehe.

After my gym, I came home really tired and hungry so I went to bed and after an hour Olga came so I had to wake up already. I went to the shower room for another hot bath and prepared for the Punggol trip. I brought with me some clothes and a mickey mouse fleece blanket. Agnes by the way, is already living with Mamul. Her boyfriend also went to Mamul's place and they have prepared something.

I was hungry and told Mamul that I want to eat. Hehehehe. She actually cooked rice for everyone so I was really planning to eat once I arrived to their place. I don't know what they have prepared and it was a little exciting getting their already.

After an hour of MRT ride, at long last Olga and I arrived on a desired time. We set our things at Mamul's room and also, I went to the dining table and Mamul has prepared the food. Christian, Agnes' boyfriend and I ate together of course with Agnes. The food to my surprise was cooked by Christian though I did know the name of the recipe, I still ate. I was hungry as in uber hungry after the trip. Thanks to Christian and to Mamul.

After we ate, we need to go to the Singapore Stadium earlier like an hour before the game because it's far from the stadium. We arrived at the stadium and the game has started already. The first half quarter of the game has just finished and the score was, Ginebra at 23 and the Slingers leading the game at 27. During the second quarter, team Ginebra was in deep shit trouble at 10 points lead by Singapore Slingers. Third quarter went on and at the middle of this quarter, team Ginebra was fired up and went to catch the Slingers and the audience went into uproar. My hands were getting hot of the extreme clapping because of the great show of team Ginebra. From two points to steals and random three points and great defense. I don't know what happened but at the fourth quarter and towards the end of the game, they were weirdly dumped with a hefty 30 points which was really unbelievable. It was a dismay and it felt that I have wasted money. Even so, I still had a little fun but not much. Wahahahaha. Everybody loves to win, you know! Hehehehe. It was not the team Ginebra I knew so I felt a little cheated but not to the point of being stupefied. Wahahahaha. So still forgivable but I promised not to watch a game of theirs again not unless it's the SEA Games or Asian Games where some them are to be pooled for the National Team.

After the game, we decided to checkout Chinatown. It was my second time around going to Chinatown. We need to check the last MRT service so we won't have any problems when going home. We checked the Chinatown street shops, mostly window shopping and enjoying the crowd. We found ourselves hungry and it was almost 11PM. So we went to the other side checking the food strip. We saw this Kway Teow stall and ordered this local delicacy I guess. Sumptuous it is! After that late dinner, we decided to go home. Our foot soles were aching and everyone was tired already. And the day's activity was a blast. Upon arriving home and after some minutes, I was soaked in the couch fast asleep.

Sunday came and I woke up late. It was almost 11 AM already. Mamul was already up, as well as Agnes. I was hungry as a beast again. Wahahahha. Oh, have I mentioned that my program at Fitness First was to gain some weight and I did gain 1 kilogram. Well, Mamul had prepared prawns in chili. A simple brunch and yet very delighting to the stomach. We ate while watching Madagascar 2 in Mamul's laptop. A really wonderful time for the four of us. By the way, Christian was not feeling well last Friday and he did not went to Punggol or even Chinatown with us. He was with his friends who were there at the stadium to watch the game as well. After a brunch, I took a hot bath and after that, I noticed that my skin itched. I had some like tiny insect bites. I asked Mamul if she was feeling the same and I even asked if there were mosquitoes in their unit. I was freaked out when the itchiness went intense and they were all over my body. Good thing, Mamul had an anti allergic medicine and she gave me one tablet. My arms and hands began to really itch when we were on the bus. We were actually planning to IKEA at Tampines. So when we arrived there, my hands were blotched read and my arms were having mini maps. Good thing, it did not have to occur in my face though my face was reddish already. I was getting embarrassed of what I was going on. Another great thing is that, nobody knew me and so I just did my window shopping with my friends and we walked from IKEA to Giant. We also tasted the food at IKEA which was not that pricy and to my surprise had a Filipino flavor on it. I enjoyed the fried chicken and the meat balls. After a few hours the itchiness subsided and the swelling and the tightening of my hands were beginning to normalize.

After Olga purchased her bed stuff, Agnes and Mamul went ahead to Giant for groceries while Olga and I went to the bus stop going to Tampines station. We were headed home.

A New Year in Singapore

Happy new year to everyone! More fruitful life, more blessings to share to our loved ones, friends, and community, and a great journey to life for the new year 2009.

WOW, I love new years. Christmas is amazing but new year is fabulous. These two celebrations are unique but they mean different in our lives. Well I am not here to write and compare the two important celebration and jubilation but I want to narrate what has happened to my new year here in Singapore.

We actually have office work in Dec 31st but after work, Olga and I planned to purchase a piece of cake somewhere in Tiong Bharu. It was also Analyn's birthday so we thought of buying a cake for this celebration well this is also for the New Year (wink). We bought a black forest cake. We came home at around 5:30PM and Razel has prepared the pastas and chicken and other goody-foodies. It's going to be a mouthful feast.

At around 7PM, our housemates' friends arrived and the birthday celebration began. We sang the infamous birthday song then the blowing of candles. After that, it was dinner time. The spaghetti was yum-yum, the breaded fried chicken was really sumptuous and the rest of the food were all tasty, so much that I don't know how to get them inside my tummy - I mean all of the food. I was filled and stuffed. I thought everyone was:)

After the celebration, Olga and I decided to watch the new year countdown at the Marina Bay. So I took a bath to refresh and Olga had her ritual as well. We bid new years and greetings and we went out of the flat.

Olga and I had to walk from our flat to the MRT station for 5-8 minutes. At last we reached the station and there was no crowd at all. I just thought people have celebrated new year in the comforts of their labyrinths. Well I was wrong! When we arrived at Raffles interchange and alighted to get to the other train bound for Marina Bay, there was a crowd. Olga and I did not know where the place was so we just followed the pile of people traversing the pavement. Wahahahaha I had a feeling that we are going to be lost or already lost. Well we reached a park where people set up some picnics but there was no music or what. So we decided that it was not "the place". We went back and rode a bus going to the Marina Barrage but prior to that, we had to walk for like miles =)). The pounds that we stocked in our tummies an hour ago were slowly eaten up. Going back, Marina Barrage was a nice place but it wasn't "the place". I sent an SMS to my Indonesian friend and told me that we should have gone to the City Hall MRT Station and from there walk to Esplanade. So Olga and I decided to get out of the building and move our way to City Hall. It took us another 30 minutes of our time and the clock was ticking for the countdown. We arrived at City Hall at around 10:30PM. We just wanted to get there because there's this concert where River Maya will be playing and it spelt fun but it will cost us 19SG dollars so going to the concert was not the main point of going there but more of watching the fireworks display. We were greeted by a really huge crowd at the City Hall going our way to Esplanade. Olga and I just walked and walked. It was getting 12 midnight. We stopped in front of Mandarin Oriental and decided to wait there. After minutes of waiting, the crowd cheered. There were few balloons being flown out to the sky. Inside this stadium was the concert but it did felt like a party though. Anyway, the moment we have waited for arrived. It was the fireworks display already. To our surprised it took place just 300 - 500 meters away from us and we were just luckily situated in front. There was extreme elation when the first batch of amazing fireworks jumped from its bunk. There were cheers all over the place and claps. It was a 1o - 15 minute show. I forgot my digital camera but Olga did bring hers so it was capturing the moment time. Well I sent my SMS to the Philippines to my family and friends and I was getting a network busy tone. I did not stop until my messages went through. It was fun and great even if we had to walk far. We got back home after the fireworks display and the flood of people was getting visible.

Compared to the Philippines, the new year in my hometown is celebrated with free as in free street party with charity campaigns and the same thing, a fabulous fireworks display. The neighborhood will have to make a lot of noise like blowing horns and noisy firecrackers (I hate firecrackers). What I am trying to say is, it's more fun to celebrate new year in the Philippines. Anyway there is this cultural differences and I cannot expect more. It's more of finding meaning to what or how it is. I just enjoyed the celebration as much as I could.

We arrived home really tired and our housemates were actually drinking beer and champagne. I had a glass of wine and that was it. By the way, it felt so starving so it was another belly feast. Hehehehe. After some small chit-chat and fun debates about relationships and hearing drunk people having to debate which was really fun, I just felt sleepy. Lots of opinions and lots of things to learn from your housemates. There was even a mini sing-along using youtube live streaming. I felt tired so at around 2AM, I said my prayers and then I went to bed.

That was how my friends and I greeted the new year.

Punggol Singapore Get Together with Mamul

Last night, I went online in my yahoo messenger and I had a chance to converse with Mamul and Agnes. My talk with Agnes was more of how she is, what has happened more or less with her last few days in Makati and basically her next destination and that is Singapore. With Mamul, our conversation was focused on her stay here and how she's doing so far in this really environment friendly Singapore.

Olga and I would love to visit Mamul so we asked her if it was okay to visit her place. So it was signed and sealed last night that we will be visiting Mamul at Punggol(it's a rhyme :P).

This morning at around 11AM, we decided to fly by or rather began our journey to Punggol. Since we will be cooking monggo soup, Olga and I first had to go to the market and bought 100 grams of bilis - dilis in Tagalog or bolinao in Bisaya. After we purchased this special ingredient, we then walked our way to Buona Vista MRT station going for Outram Park Interchange. The ride took us 15 minutes. We then alight and went to the interchange bound for Punggol. The trip took us 45 minutes. After arrival, we alight again and went to the LRT station bound for Cove which if I am not mistaken was at the 3rd floor. This time it was a shorter right or could have been if the car or caboose wasn't in maintenance. Punggol to Cove was just a station away but we had to go a joy ride for the maintenance but it was a blessing in disguise because we got to see the beauty of the place. Mamul fetched us from there after Olga sent an MMS and did a miss call. Mamul had to purchase some spices and other ingredients for the "get together" so we dropped by at the nearest supermarket. After that, we went to a unit nearby to get her Magic Sing Karaoke System. After that, it was time to go to Mamul's place. Check the pictures for our visit:
