Jeff's Schweeby Schweeb
Waaaahhhh! I would love to visit New Zealand as Schweeb is being pioneered in that green country. Maybe in the near future, I'll get my ass on to that simple yet fascinating technology.
Do you want to feel the ride? Watch "Schweeb" in motion:
Thanks to Jeff Barnett to this amazing technology. Indeed, Schweeb is the most efficient transport system in the face of the planet.

Work Rant : No choice ?
When we had a project meeting, I detailed everything what I was doing last week and the things I did today. I then told my project leader that, there was no way for me to know which of the three culprits was responsible of the faulty behavior of validation I was doing. Arggggg. He then told me that there was no design, no documentation and all that. I was given a software to validate and now I have to resolve everything blindly. The pressure is on and it's really tough. The project was made by a third party which the company has no hold of because the contract has ended and that project was passed to me. This is again a serious case of basketball game in the workplace.
Anyway, my project lead told me that I am the one who will fix the issues.
Well it's not simple and it never will be. Aside from the technology which is very new to me and I did studied it but it's no guarantee that I got everything. As I have explained to my project lead, I do not know which things to learn and not to learn, what are the questions to ask and if I have questions, I also do not know how to ask them.
It's a bit frustrating....
Energy, I don't have it anymore, I guess? I was like trying to force myself to work and read all the ISO stuff and all the related standards but nothing would sink in. I was getting tired and sleepy and actually had some moments where I noticed myself shrinking into short naps. The scenario is too embarrassing and very unbecoming for me. Is this a sign of some sort?
I am willing to bet all of my intellectual faculties to this project but then it's not my cup of tea. As I have said, I have vowed to love, to master and explore Java and it's technologies. But, this project is in C/C++ and in Visual Basic. Grrrrr the languages which I am not an expert and languages which I have not sworn to be part of my breathing cells. Even if how demanding my work I was willing to commit if it was all Java. I guess that was one of the reasons why I do not like what I am doing. But most of it, is basically the fact that this project does not have the resources I needed. Another thing is my project lead would always tell me that he expected a lot from me because of my 4 years of experience in software but then he failed to understand that I do not have the advanced knowledge of those languages and technologies and not even the intermediate know-how. I am willing to learn but up to what point? I am actually about to give up this project but I just can't because of the huge risk which will have a major impact not just to myself ....
I guess I have no choice after all. I just need to push myself more and do some stretching more. Hope the strain won't crush me. The challenge is there but then it's not interesting for me - but, I need to do it.

SE W705, my new baby
Anyway, I got my phone together with Agnes-bachan at Vivo and we were able to have a bargain price of 510 SGD. With it, we also received a gym bag. The phone has a 1 year service warranty as well.
I was planning to buy an Experia but it was way too impractically expensive for me. But I'd still buy it if I had plenty of cash. So far I am liking my new phone.
For all the techies out there, here's the specifications of this new phone: SE W705. You may want to also read its reviews.

My first ever major buys in Singapore
Part of the plan was we are going to purchase a wireless router at IMM but plans has changed and we went to Vivo City.
We went to Vivo City, one of the malls here in the small country of Singapore at around 5 or 6 PM. The mall is very accessible because it sits beside the MRT station, HarbourFront. When we arrived at the mall, there was a mall-wide sale and they were from 10% - 70%. We went to gap to Levis Original where Olga and Analyn bought their tees, then the Guess shop. Since Guess was for girls, I had a chance to checkout a shope beside it called Aldo.
After that major purchase, we were kind of hungry and so we went to "Food Republic" which was at the last floor of the mall like at the rooftop already. We managed to take some good photo session and that was it. But prior to that, there was this fitness center and so we got inside and inquired about their service and facilities. I am actually planning to be fit and healthy. They have yoga as one of their classes and it's inclusive of their package for 99 SG dollars a month. I got excited of the idea.
It was getting dark and we were hungry so we then proceeded to "Food Republic", a classy food court or hawker. I ordered rice with a slice of pink salmon for 6SG dollars. The food was satisfying except that the served rice was not enough. Olga shared her cooked rice and thanks for her my crave was cured but not totally. I got a hot and spicy sauce so I badly needed something cold to drink but then it will cost me around 2-3 SG dollars so I opted not to buy one and just get a drink from somewhere ... wahahaha ... which I don't even know where.
After that hearty dinner, we got out of "Food Republic" and went to the cinema to check for the schedule. When we arrived at the cinema after getting lost twice we followed the lead of Razel, it struck upon seeing that "Twilight" was not post on the "Now Showing" ad boards. Anyway Razel saw the moving ad screens that "Twilight" was to be shown at 12:20 AM and verified it at the movie counter. Razel decided to call her friends to tell about the schedule while we waited. She then said that it was agreed that they will be going to another mall at Dhoby Ggaut. She invited me or rather us but I replied I won't be going. My reasons are it's getting far and my intention of going to the mall was to check for a router and possibly buy one. After that short conversation, we found 7Eleven and so we decided to buy fruit juices. At last a quencher for just 0.80 SG cents. We then checked for a router in this computer shop beside Samsung's but then they dont have a "Linksys". It was time for Analyn and Razel to go and so we bid good-byes. Olga and I went to this eclectronics store. We found ourselves at the game area where we tried the PSP 3000 series. I am planning to buy one in
After the purchase, we got out of the electronic shop and went to look for another computer store and check other laptops and we found one. The price was from 999 SG dollars for a Compaq or an Acer but then Olga was looking for a Sony Vaio. Anyway we ended up leaving the store. We had a few strolls and checked some shops. Then we got tired and the store looked like they were closing already, and so then, we left the mall after our last check in a shoe shop.
We arrived at home around 10PM already and I just took my shoes off and then got my laptop and hurried to setting up the router. I was already a little familiar as to how it would be set up because of my first job so everything went smoothly. It was as easy as counting 1-1o and I also have set-up a security for our homepage and as well as the wireless connection. Upon testing everything went well and I began surfing the net and it spelled time to blog again :P

Phoenix's Mission to Mars: a sad note ?
Well a friend of mine sent me a link regarding the Phoenix Mars Lander. It details about it's last transmission. Phoenix's message feels like he is human.
The Phoenix's mission is a history maker. For one, it has surveyed mars for months to gather scientific data and to ultimately see if Mars is livable. Another thing, it prides NASA and the scientific communities who have helped to make it possible. Data gathered from Phoenix is also an important aspect in this journey. I will give us some answers which could maybe well beyond our knowing. Right now the data is still being analyzed and of course I am excited to also read about it.
To the "Super Cali Fragi Listic Expi Ali Docious" Phoenix, thanks to you too.
To see the write up where it also has some tweeter notes from Phoenix, just visit this link: http://gizmodo.com/5082385/this-is-my-farewell-transmission-from-mars

Google Earth Not Versus WWT of Microsoft
I got hold of the latest buzz from Microsoft's WorldWide Telescope. I checked the requirements and it was memory expensive. Check the installation requirements: WWT Requirements . But my high end desktop (office pc, grin) was able to manage the whole download process and viola got to install it perfectly fine.
The view was great as it shows some streaming of the solar system archived by NASA. It's fun and educational. I have so wanted to have a more vivid picture of the universe when we had our eartch science subject way back in high school and that goes to say that the books we were using then were not that picture rich.
Anyway if Google focuses earth Microsoft has the Universe. No competition right?
Try WWT for you to appreciate. Here's the link : WWT .
Strike 1
This is going to be my first ever blog in Cebuano. I actually wrote this on a notepad and accidentally bumped into it when I was looking for the license xml file for my JUDE Professional. The note was entitled "walalang_blog_it" and here are the contents of it.
"wala gyud ko nahimutang ganina ay .. kay gi walk through ko ni XXX about sa task then ga mention siya ug cloning something then iya dayon gipakita iyang cloning kunuhay ... before niya gi pakita ni ask ko ug unsa na siya deep cloing ? ni ingon siya uu tapos ni ingon siya nako na naa ba daw shallow ni ingon ko uu ... then mao to iya dayon gipakita iyang cloning ... iya dayon ko gi lecturan unsa ang iyang gibuhat sa cloning ... mao to na inis ko kay galibog ko sa iyang cloning ... wala ko nahimutang .... tapos akong gibuhat kay ako gi google about cloning of objects... waaahhhh sakto akong gi think/idea about sa cloning ... medyo wrong iyaha tapos iya man gud gi ingon sa ako na ingon ato-on daw pag solve .... mao to naglibog nako sa concepts sa cloning of object and stuff actually sa iyang approach .. basta naay laing pama agi na dili ko mo gamit sa iyahang cloning .... wahihiihi ! wala, na satisfy ko kay pag google nako akong idea sa cloning kay sakto ang kay XXX ang dili .... tapos ang prob kay iya man ipa code ug ingon ato ... wala koy ma hems mo code na lang ko sa iyang cloning tips .... mo quiet na lang ko padayon na lang ... The truth is na depress ko ani nga time kay dili ko ka gets ngano ipa ingon ato niya... basta na solve nako pero lain nga pama-agi.
Psssssst. Secreto ra ni nato.... wahahhahahahahaha ug gi blog ba!
Ant and Me
At last the project release is over. The web services I have created are now ready and functional and have been merged to the main branch. Thanks to my mentor for being there when I have tons of questions in my mind. Though some of which are manageable, most of them were really system specific behavior. I even had a hard time during those days because of their ant builds - trust me the builds were crazy. I even broke some of them and spent countless hours checking where or what caused it and fix them to the point of doing overtime. I wondered what if we were using Apache Maven. Is it really a good idea then to use Maven for this?
Anyway I did some readings regarding build and repository managers and found out this software called, "buildr". It's claiming and attested by some software developers that it's a really great product and it's 50% faster than Apache Maven. That's just awesome I guess. I want to try this tool some other time because this week as in right now, my schedule and load is coming back to not being person friendly - I don't know if there is such. The last week was terrible but then this week, they are giving me a "priority task". It's going to be another service for which will function in lieu of the former service I created once the information there expired during the session. Bug me! I do get what services right now but hell don't get why do they have to create a service because the session times out? why not store it as a session in the server instead or cookie to the clients computer and just delete the cookie after the client has timed out. But I'm not the architect, so I don't know what I'm talking about. I have to admit that the suggestion I did doesn't sound viable for maybe it has so many unproven issues. Anyway I'm working on this service and wasn't convinced with its implementation. So that was a show stopper for my coding job. I wasn't able to even materialize what I was supposed to do but at least the classes were there but with out substance. What I did in order to feel better was finished the unit tests and system test which were affected by the overhaul which we term in computer lingo as refactoring. It was crazy since the previous developer resigned like months ago and because I wasn't the one who created them, I have to peruse every detail of code and made sense with it. I was able to get it though. I finished just right now the failing unit tests and system tests. But my guess it that some issues will again arise on the unit tests because of this new service that I will be making. Indeed so much work to do. And beat this task at hand was assigned to me which I have to finish by next week Friday. Anyway, my mentor approached me and gave a background on the service which I will be making. Hope everything has sank into my system and my subconscious will act and work on it laboriously so by the time my senses has caught me up, everything will just be encoded even if it's just rote. I can deal with that!
Going back to the build tool we are using, ant is making my world crazy. The code is becoming dirty and less friendly. Just a thought, when will this project use better build tools and stuff? Or do they even care to consider changing their build tool? Worse, they don't know of any better build tool - that's outrageous! The one thing that's a little disappointing is that they have identified that their ant builds are getting some kind of slow and stuff yet they are not planning of changing it. So I guess they don't see the other side of the one peso coin, the what-if just what if they were using another tool. I'm just a little affected by it because they were having some Ant 101 just to inform us on how to make builds faster.
Anyway it's getting a little late so I need to sign out :) My friends are actually waiting already at Greenbelt for a karaoke session. I just thought of writing this rant once and for all so I can move on. I just need to go with the flow as to how this legacy system was designed. I just thought that their build design is a not so okay (I would have written a little inferior to be honest but I need to be as considerate as possible as I have promised my self - Wahahaha! there you go I blew it up.).
