Hello World, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Movie is Here

Well, I'm so so excited for this new movie installment of this J.K. Rowling's creation. Almost all of the us muggles, would actually know about Harry Potter and all his adventures at Hogwarts, so I would not want to detail about his life for I may fail Ms. Rowling or Potter himself, miserably.

I have actually bought the books and have read them religiously. I even bought the CDs of the movies. Up until now, the wallpaper of my primitive K700i Sony Ericsson phone is from "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", which I got in year 2005 and which I have been using over and over again. Waaaahhhh true blooded HP fanatic:P

Anyway, I am writing about Harry Potter because of this movie which is really coming soon. I bet everyone will be packed and geared with their wands and cats or owls or even rats? Ewwww... - going to the cinemas to see this movie. I hope I can win a ticket for a world premier in London or wherever will this premier be held.

I am so excited how the actors will give life to this great literature and how the movie itself would give justice to the story. Hope they won't do some chopping and make a new story out of it. But for the past HP movies, most of them were crafted to really capture the original storyline but ofcourse they were not perfect.

Thai Exhibition, Faber, Shopaholic and Us :D

My Saturday has been busy. Right after the gym, I had to rush home and prepare for our excursion.

When I arrived home, Olga was already prepared and was ready to leave. I had to hop and run from everywhere the house as people were waiting. I had to wash my face again and do some personal hygiene. Olga was outside of the flat and waiting for me to finish putting my shoes on. I was then bugged of whether I had to bring my sling bag or not and also I had to decide if I bring my digital cam or not. But, I find it to sometimes try something else. I decided not to bring any of those trip stuff. Olga needs to purchase a top-up on her EZLink so we need to pass-by at the nearest 7/11. We went there first then we waited a bus bound for Orchard because we were going to the Thailand Embassy. It was a short trip and after 20 minutes, we arrived at the embassy. Were greeted with a different crowd and it was exciting. The atmosphere is very light. Since it's a Thai exhibition, what better way to experience it is through their food. Thai food is really flavorful. After the food trip, we roam around as there were stalls selling some goodies from Thailand. Then there was this program and we sort of watched it for a few minutes of our time. Just to give you an idea, it was already 6:30PM and the band wasn't that great so we decided to go to our next stop, Mt. Faber. Mamul, Olga and I wanted to witness the observation of Singapore for the Earth Hour. My small contribution was turning off every machine in the office including the main switch. Well, I have been doing this but just the cpu and monitor and last Friday, before I left the office, I switched everything off. If I am not forgotten, our manager decided to turn off our servers to contribute to this event. We rode a bus from Orchard going to Dhoby Ghout station and from Dhoby Ghout to Vivo City. Since I have drank a bottle of Thai tea and a Thai coconut juice, I had to go to the comfort room like twice. Then, we went to the bus station going to Mt. Faber. We arrived there at around 7:30Pm and the Earth Hour would start at 8PM. We looked for a nice view and there it was the view from a top. It was Singapore at night. We were taking some photos and was very eager to witness the moment when the lights are going to be turned off for this event. Mamul prepared her camera to take a video. When the clock struck 8, it was the moment of truth and there you go, all the lights did not went off. I think there only a couple of buildings froma far which had their lights off. It was that amazing. I was not expecting that of Singapore because it is well perceived that Singapore is nature friendly and stuff. Anyway, I can't help but compare it to the Philippines as the first Asian country to join the Earth Hour. Based on my experience last year, Makati, Pasay and Taguig joined the rest of the world in his event. There was a moment stop of activities for an hour and some of the big malls obeserved and joined this effort. Anyway, there not that much to expect in their so we decided to go back to Vivo to have our dinner. On our way, I saw this bridge on top and I suggested that we go there. So we went back from our previous trail and headed for this bridge. And well, it was a nice place. I think the night helped it. And the cam whores never ceased to take the opportunity to strike a pose. Hehehehe. After that, it was really time to get dinner. We were planning to have something Italian but we did not know where to go so we just decided to just really go to Vivo. It wa a long walk and a long wait and we could not find a bus for ourselves. We then decided to go to the opposite bus stop and there, we found which bus number to take. We arrived at Vivo at around 9:30 PM. We went to Marche but it's overly expensive and so we decided to go to Food Republic which houses food stalls which are delectable as well. I ordered grilled fish same as what the girls did except that they have spaghetti on it and I have rice. I ordered lime juice but it tasted weird and thank goodness, Olga was kind enough to share her bottle of water. We had a this fun chat about going to places we've never been and stuff. I told Mamul about this couch surfer which a friend of mine shared the info to me last Friday. Food Republic has to close already so we kind of decided to watch a movie. We needed a relief from all the busy days. We went to the cinema and we decided to watch "The Confessions of a Shopaholic". Since the movie time will be at 12:10AM, we decided to just walk around first and we decided to look for a Starbucks. Olga ordered one for herself and I am not a coffee lover anymore so we just joined her. We then talk and talk as always and it was fun. It was getting 12 already and Olga had to finish her coffee. After that, we proceeded to the movie house at the 3rd floor of the mall. The movie is a funny one and I must admit, I have those moments that I wanted to also splurge but not the one portrayed in the movie where it feels like they were sick and needs treatment. I believe we were not observing movie etiquette as we were having some huge laugh. Too bad for them and too good for us, as we enjoyed it especially the dance moves of Rebecca. I don't want to go on details of the movie and just watch it yourself guys to have a different kind of laugh. It was getting late already and Mamul couldn't get a bus already. So we decided to go to our flat with Mamul. When we arrived at Holland Ville, we thought that we were very tired but not yet. The two girls checked this blog and they were laughing and laughing again. I myself have read that blog and it's a really fun blog. I just stayed some few minutes and then I prepared for bed.

That was it, and I woke up at around 12 noon because my stomach was knocking of hunger.

I'll be watching Twilight with friends

My friends and I are watching, "Twilight". It is based on a novel by Stephenie Meyer.
I don't have the books yet but I already have the PDF copies of the novels. OMG, the list of books and e-books to read that I have, is already mile-long! But, I will find time to read them, that's for sure. Though I am not expecting this movie to be great, but I hope it can give justice to what Ms. Meyer has written.

Is this going to be just-another-vampire-movie? I don't know! But the movies' trailer looks nice and I am excited to watch the full length show.

By the way, we will be watching the movie at Glorieta and we have reserved the tickets online through sureseats.com. Too bad, we did not decide sooner, so we got the 11PM screening time which is the last show, but it hasn't changed the fact that I am eager to watch this movie with my friends. I was actually the one who convinced them to watch. Honestly, I am hoping that it will be really nice and the story is a must-be-good-one so I won't be tortured by my friends and be fed to the lions.

Are you one of the Hobbits?

I am not a Hobbit but I was once a mudblood at Hogwarts.

Anyway, I was able to track all of the LOTR movies like watched them over, and over and over. I bought the trilogy cd and enjoyed it during Halloween, Christmas and New Year, all year round. I think the story is great but did not have cash to buy the novels as there were no paper back issues or at least I haven't seen one. The glossy hardbound issues are really expensive for me. Hope someone can give me an LOTR book, at least one book, so I can kick-off my collection and not just the movies.

In the LOTR movie, one great animation is of Smiggle. I find the character scary yet adorable. The friendship of Frodo to that of Sam. Arwen and Aragorn's love - so great. The great battles and the likes were truly amazing. The sage knowledge of Gandalf. The scary looking creatures of the Orc race. And the happy race of the Hobbits. Thanks to master Tolkien for this great cranial juicers.

Why I write about the Hobbits? Hmmm... It's holloweird! All Soul's and Saint's day is coming and I am planning to watch the trilogy again. I am also planning to watch my matrix movie collections and whole lot more.

And oh, smiggle would make a good Halloween costume. "Precious, precious, precious ...."

A for Alicia Keys

Just before I decided with finality that she is gone, my wishful thinking was granted by whoever that gave her a chance to be once again heard. As I was accidentally listening to Nora Jones as mentioned from my previous post, I did mention that I miss Alicia Keys not literally her as a being but her singing and her music. I think she is one of those beautiful artists - gifted and humble. When I was like checking online, my goodness, she is there. She is just touring Europe and her latest stop was in Warsaw, Poland. I don't have a copy of her latest album, "As I am", but I 'm saving for that and one of these days I can grab a copy for myself. I thought she was dormant already but my mistake, she is very active.

When I further scoured the treacherous web, I found her official site and got some info there. One of which is that, she is having a movie with Queen Latifah - "The Secret Life of Bees". I wonder if she makes it big here? Well she and the queen's movie is rated A+, and maybe it's a nice try. But I'd prefer to see her in music scenes and not in movies but I would still support her though. I mean if she has the talent in becoming an actor then I'd give her my support. I must admit I am a fan!

I think I will be making more blogs about those men and women in music, literature, art and all artistic individuals who are inspiring and worth to be shared to the world. I am thinking of featuring next about Paulo Coehlo or maybe Josh Groban.

Are mothers naturally good?

Certainly I can not answer for you. I just thought that there are circumstances that makes a good or great mom or a worse one. I am entertaining the question over and over again this past few days. Though I have been having fun and does a lot of things to keep me busy, still there are idle times that I get to ask myself about this.

The sad truth is, my mom passed away already when I was in college. That was in 2002. I believe she was the greatest mom one can ever have. She always made sure we were safe and she provides almost all the comfort a mother can give for her children. Even when we were grown ups already, she never failed at understanding our childish mistakes.

Anyway, one thing that lead me to write about this, is because I watched a movie like two hours ago entitled, "Eagle Eye". It's a nice movie and filled with action. There were moments were I'd literally stop my breathing. Though I did not like the car hitting, racking, bumping and all that, I still liked the story. One of the act in this film was Michelle Monaghan, playing Rachel. Her character was a single mom and was thwarted to do things unimaginable, all for the love of her son. Rachel had to kill in order to save his son. And because of this, the question as to, "Are mothers naturally good?", was played back on my head.

I have answered the question for my mom but I still see some contrasting situations to others. Really, are mothers naturally good? Or let's take another approach. Are there bad mothers?

I have never asked that question to my mom though, but even so, what she showed us was unconditional love and it was the greatest answer to me. But I still think that the best people who can answer this question are our mothers themselves.
